It is all about location - a little history
Greenport came about as the town we know it in 1838 after nearly 200 years of local history. Our town, (not our village) rests in Southold Town(ship), first settled by Barabus Horton in 1640, just a short generation after Plymouth Colony....cont'd here..

Walking Tour Guides
Lace up those skates!
Winter comes but once a year and the village has an absolutely jewel of an Ice Rink just to the east of the Carousel in Mitchell Park. An hour on the ice will take you back to your childhood. A turn around the rink with a youngster's first time on skates will be a memory for the ages.
Skate rentals, ice time, even a hockey league are for the bidding. We have to say that a little time, at dusk with the sunset, the lights coming on, a bit of hot chocolate after ...well....more about it in detail here...
Hold your next event here (big ones and small)
A cozy B&B weekend with a spa trip, wine tastings, dinner and a twirl around our ice rink. An office retreat to someplace where the village turns out to meet your needs and recharge those brain cells. A weekend with a top chef or some time in a winery learning the ropes not to mention that long overdo reunion, wedding shower, baby shower or kickback weekend with GFs.
Greenport takes a special twist on these events. We figure that our Village and surrounding area offers more opportunity for a complete "menu" of things to do than just about any destination venue so just bundle it all up and make it work to fit your needs and not the other way around.
Give us a shout out and tell us what you are looking for. We are here to help.
Big Doings' Sailing Your Way!
The Tall Ships are due back in port on Memorial Day. Before that is a fireman's parade in February that, for the enthusiasts - well it is something. St. Pat's gives the Village a nice green hue and then we are into the Cherry Blossoms and full bloom spring.
The 4th of July with the fireworks and carnivals bring the summer into full swing thru Labor Day and the famous Maritime Festival
Hundreds of thousands visit our Village every year. Eat, stay, shop - we are here for you.
Shop to you drop (here and online)
We are NOT a big box Village. We specialize in small shops with a great selection. No one store has it all nor should it in our estimation. We do know that a couple dozen stores with fine and particular selections in the midst of galleries and "good and great eats" is makes a pleasant afternoon.
We are also making a big push to put all the stores "online" and fingertip shopable. More to come on that after the first of the year.
More to it is that if you are going to pay us a visit, take a look at our "shopping" pages so you know what's what and what we have.
It is a very pleasant surprise.
A glass of wine perhaps?
Arriving in our Village by anything other than magic carpet takes you through 20 plus miles of vineyards and nearly 50 wineries. Our Village is the east end "anchor" for Long Island Wines and they are the areas most popular "genre attraction" (personally some of us are big fans of corn mazes - but that is another story).
What Greenport ads to this is a complete village base for your exploration of the area.
We want you to sample from these vineyards. Our local wine stores carry the selections from most of them as well. Our restaurants feature them on their menus. Think Sonoma Valley. Think us. (oh and we have some excellent chocolate right in the Village so your wine will always have a delicious companion).
Lots more on the way...stay tuned.
